Why Heartburns Should Not Be Taken Lightly

Have you ever experienced having heart burns? Its like many needles puncturing the inside of your chest and you wonder when its going to stop. I often experience these kind of uneasiness during at night. I immediately drink lots of water when I feel this discomfort. But the burning feeling in your heart doesn't subside that fast, it will take me hours before I could relax. Fear of it could lead to something else, I took the time to research and find out what really causes this heart burns and how to prevent them.

Here are some tips to find relief from heartburn.

Prevent heartburn by limiting acid foods(such as grapefruit, oranges, tomatoes or vinegar) Cut back on peppers or chilies. don't lie down two or three hours after you eat. Eat lean meats and non fatty foods. Greasy foods(like French fries, burgers) can trigger heartburn. Avoid drinks such as alcohol, drinks with caffeine and carbonated drinks. Don't eat too quickly! Try putting your spoon and fork down between bites. Avoid snacking at bed time. Eat meals two or three hours before sleeping. Drink plenty of water.

Lifestyle change can also help in heartburn relief.

Try to stay away from tight clothes. Tight belts, waistbands can press the stomach and may trigger heartburn. Strive for a less stressful life, stress may increase stomach acids, boosting heartburn symptoms. Try to lose weight. The pressure of excess weight increases the chance stomach acid will back up into the esophagus. Wait at least two to three hours after a meal before exercising. Stop smocking! Try bending with your knees. Bending over the waist tends to increase reflux symptoms.

We should monitor these nightly heartburn's for the reason of knowing if its getting worse and differentiating. Heartburn discomfort may misled us to something else. If it leads to something insubstantial then well and good. But what if it leads us to something more threatening than just a nightly heartburn? Say a heart attack? Studies show that people who suffered heart attacks said that the initial feeling experienced before having a heart attack was they perceiving of having a heartburn. So the more reason not to take heartburn's for granted.
